Sun Devils take two of three in So Cal

The Sun Devils hit the road for the first time this weekend traveling to Los Angeles to take on California Miramar Los Angeles and So Cal Premier. On Saturday the Devils lost a back and forth matchup that ended with a score of 5-3. The two teams exchanged leads until the top of the sixth when ASU took a 3-2 lead, but in the bottom half of the inning CMU was able to capitalize on walks and an error that lead to three runs.

Game 2 was a scoreless affair until the Sun Devils finally struck for three runs and behind a stellar performance from starter Connor Crabtree and the rest of the pitching staff managed to shut the door the second game and win 3-0. Alex Craig got the save.

Sunday’s matchup faced us against So. Cal Premier. The Devils struck early and never looked back. Taking the lead, expanding it and winning the ball game 8-4 (but not before I gave up a massive homer).

The Sun Devils are 8-1 on the fall year and look to continue their early success and momentum into tournament play this weekend in Tucson.

*Notes

  • ASU once again proved why they are number one in innovation by electing to move the bullpen bench from the sun into the shade. When asked about the move CMU’s left fielder was quoted as saying “That shit was crazy!”
  • ASU once again returned to Bass Pro Shop and the tradition was continued by purchasing hats.
  • We somehow managed to squeeze twenty individuals in one house by sleeping three in a single bed, a blow up mattress that did not work, and two individuals sleeping outside on a trampoline.
