Arizona State has finished preseason play and will finally start conference games. After previous series against inner-district teams in CMU and UCI along with games against Division I opponents UCLA, Arizona, Long Beach St. and Weber St. ASU now plays Cal State San Marcos.
ASU previously played San Marcos in the fall in an exhibition series and now will face San Marcos for a three game conference set. San Marcos opened up conference play this past weekend against San Diego, taking two of three in the series.
ASU looks to see their pitching continue to hit their stride along with strong offensive input from all its players (except Brad, Craig, and Brandon). The Sun Devils look for their defense to stand tall and continue to improve along with strong play physically and maybe more importantly, mentally.
ASU will play at San Marcos High School. Game times on Saturday are at 10am and 1pm. On Sunday they will be playing at 10am. We hope to see many fans at the games and as always we thank you for your support. Go Devils! #StayWinning
Last weekend the Devils traveled to Long Beach State and took 2 of 3. The Devils finally took away a Saturday win with the help of an outstanding pitching performance and the help of several “Squidward” dab’s. The Sun Devils lost a close game two thanks to some costly errors. On Sunday the Devil’s bounced back with another victory thanks in part to a triple play and more quality at-bats.
This weekend the Devil’s were back home to play Weber St. and ASU hit them with the sweep. Saturday saw two outstanding pitching performances by Brad and Nick Lord. A couple costly errors kept Weber St. in the game, but the Devil’s were in control handedly both games. Sunday the Sun Devils saw themselves down late, but thanks to a five run bottom of the 9th inning, the Devil’s literally hit them with the “walk” off and went home victorious. As promised thanks to a sweep, ASU will now get their 4.8 Stars.

Over the weekend ASU Club Baseball played two Division I opponents. On Saturday January 30th ASU faced UCLA who has won their respected division three straight years. The Sun Devils held leads in both games, but were unable to hold on as costly errors helped the Bruins complete their comeback victories. However, the Sun Devils had outstanding pitching performances and were able to grab hits and RBI’s in clutch situations offensively.
Sunday the Devils faced University of Arizona in a single 9 inning game matchup. The Devils grabbed the lead early, but again were unable to hold the lead as the school down south ended up victorious. The Devils struggled offensively only collecting three hits and again costly errors struck the defense.
Notes so far on the season:
The Devils have held the lead in five of the six games they have played. All loses have been by 2 runs or less except the first game of the season against CMU.
Sun Devil pitchers have only given up 14 earned runs in six games, but opponents have scored 32 runs to the Sun Devils 29.
The Sun Devils started spring season this weekend with three games against two opponents. Saturday ASU Club Baseball went 0-2 on the day against CMU-LA, but saw strong performances from the pitching staff including a radical relief appearance from OG Cody, with the help of strong defensive play on the day.
After a Saturday Night trip to Bass Pro Shops and the purchases of neon, yellow, orange and pink hats, Sunday the Devil’s bats finally woke and managed to score 17 runs in a 7 inning contest against University of California Irvine. Finishing the weekend 1-2.
This weekend ASU Club Baseball again plays 3 games against 2 different opponents from the NCBA Division I ranks. Saturday UCLA travels out to Tempe to take on the Devils in a Double Header. Sunday ASU plays the school down south in a late evening start against Arizona.
